Blue Care Network of Michigan is once again partnering with GRPS for the 23nd annual Turkey Trot. With their support we hope to make our 5K walk/run the biggest and best Thanksgiving 5K walk/ruTurkey Trot Logon in the country. Join us as we use our feet before we eat on November 26, 2015!

Online Registration is Now Open! Commit now to run with Tom the Turkey at this family fun event by registering online today. Choose to run/walk the 5K (starting at 8am) or have your children participate for FREE in the New Balance Grand Rapids Mini Trot, which starts following the 5K race (roughly 8:40am).

GRPS would like to thank the City of Grand Rapids for again partnering with our event. This collaboration allows our run/walk to start and finish at the Van Andel Arena.

Purpose: This event promotes community fitness, physical activity, and health and wellness to the Greater Grand Rapids Area. GRPS believes that a healthy community is a vibrant community.

Proceeds: Proceeds from this race allow the district to fund the cost of interscholastic athletics to students in kindergarten through 12th grade.


Thursday, November 26, 2015 – Grand Rapids Public Schools TURKEY TROT presented by Blue Care Network of Michigan. This Thanksgiving Day event will feature a scenic 5K course through downtown Grand Rapids (8:00 am start) and the New Balance Mini-Trot for kids 12 and under (8:40 am start).
Location: Van Andel Arena, 130 Fulton St West, Grand Rapids. MI 49503*Pick-up your packet the day before the race on November 25th.
Rules: Strollers and joggers are allowed, however at the starting line, please line up behind those without. Dogs, bikes, roller blades and skateboards are prohibited.
T-shirt and Awards: Long sleeve T-shirts will be presented to all 5K registrants. Stay following the race to receive the Awards. Awards will be given to the Overall Male and Female Open and Masters winners and, 1st through 3rd place Male and Female in each age category. Age category awards are based on chip time.
Age Categories are: 
10 and under
11-14               30-34               50-54
15-18               35-39               55-59
19-24               40-44              
25-29               45-49

New Balance Grand Rapids Mini Trot: For all of our mini-trotters 12 and under we have a 1K course just for you!
The mini trot begins approximately 40 minutes after the 5K, so a majority of those participants will be able to watch or join their children for the mini trot.
Registration for the mini trot is free. All participants will receive a finisher’s prize!
