Union Boys Soccer 2-0

Union Boys Soccer 2-0

After opening the season with a 9-1 victory over Kellogsville the Union boys soccer team traveled to Allegan to face the high-flying Tigers. Allegan came into the contest with a record of 4 wins and 1 loss and were scoring at a 6 goals per game clip while only conceding 3 goals in the 5 games played. In a hotly contested and physical contest that matched the sweltering evening heat, the Red Hawks put in an outstanding effort and came away with a hard-earned 4-1 victory. Behind a strong game at goal by junior Jesus Ramirez with 6 saves and 2 goals each from seniors Manny Lopez and Kevin Marroquin and outstanding effort by the whole team, the Red Hawks should feel very proud and excited by their performance against a very talented opponent.
The Red Hawks JV also turned in an outstanding effort in their first game of the season with a 1-1 tie at Allegan. Goalkeeper Andy Baculi had a strong game and the team played extremely well together especially it being their first contest. Congratulations to both squads on a job well done.
