Westwood Redhawks Celebrate Winter Season

The Westwood Athletics Department spent a fun evening celebrating and honoring their athletes from the Winter 1 season.  Student athletes, coaches, administrators, parents and family all gathered for some food and smiles to recognize all of the student athletes that participated on a Winter 1 athletic team.  The sports included boys’ basketball, competitive cheer and co-ed swimming and included 6th, 7th and 8th grade student athletes.

Westwood Celebrates Spirit Week

More mismatched socks!

The Westwood Athletic Program puts on SPIRIT WEEK! To promote a positive and fun school environment, the Redhawks are getting crazy – check out the schedule of days and the pictures below.

Monday 2/6 – Crazy Hat Day – wear your funniest looking hat!
Tuesday  2/7 – Crazy Sock Day – wear two different socks (IE: stripes and polka dots)
Wednesday 2/8 – Sunglasses Day – wear your favorite sunglasses (even the big ones)
Thursday 2/9 – Crazy Hair Day – braid it, spray it,  comb it, straight up
Friday 2/10 – Favorite high school, college, pro jersey sportwear day

There will also be a Westwood Student vs Staff basketball game at school on Friday. All the school spirit leads up the 3rd annual Union High School Play for Hope Purple Game in support of Gilda’s Club. Tickets for the Purple Game are available at the Union High School Athletic Office for $5. OR purchase a shirt from the athletic office for $10 and get in to the game for free.

Westwood Represents at Union Feeder School of Choice Open House

Westwood Represents at Union Feeder School of Choice Open House

Wednesday evening, January 18 Union High School hosted its feeder pattern School of Choice Open House. Different elementary and middle schools were represented with tables of information displaying information and highlights about their programs.

The Westwood athletic program was definitely in attendance and represented. Athletic Director Bea Johnson brought coaches and student athletes to the event to help promote Redhawk athletics. Jimmy Chatman and Devon Ferhlen (pictured with Coach Amanda Morton) were the Westwood Athletes of the Year for 2011. They were able to interact with students attending the open house and talk about their positive experiences in athletics at Westwood Middle.
